Went for New Years Eve, resturant was lovely and had lots of history which the owner took delight in explaining. Family service was really good fun and food was also enjoyable. Wine was excelent. Only bad point really was that food took a long time to come- three courses went on for over 2.5 hours but they were busy.

The father and son team at Spirito di Vino with their set patter and attempts at being funny were a little OTT as described by another reviewer but well rehearsed and well intended. If you have a building which is steeped in history why not flaunt it at every opportunity! The food was very enjoyable: the fillet steak melted in the mouth and is highly recommended. The coffee mousse was also everything you'd expect it to be. All in all a positive experience.

I would recommend it with a few reservations. The food is very good and tasty-well presented with an interesting menu. The reservations are the family. The father is reserved and gives each table a long history of the premises etc etc then he goes on to explain every dish in detail .The menu is in english,.The son,the sommelier is brash- tasted our wine himself declared it good and poured,He shouts' Mama' every time he goes to the kitchen. She cooks-she never appeared-is she there? All a bit OTT

I was really looking forward to going to Spirito di Vino after reading the reviews, however was disappointed. Yes family run, the food couldn't be complained about, but after being provided with two wine lists the sommelier disappeared and did not help or recommend anything to go with our meal. Nothing really wrong with the overall experience, however for the money we spent we should have had a special meal. The next night we spent half the money and enjoyed ourselves much more.

We went here out of season on a cold night and it was very quiet.. The food was modern not tradtional Italian, offering starters, mains and desserts rather than antipasti, first and second dish etc. I had a delicious sea bass risotto followed by cold cuts of pork, ginger jam and grated cabbage & beansprouts - (not entirely what I was expecting). I finished with a delicious almond flour chococlate cake. The wine list started at £25 so not a cheap eat. Our hosts were attentive and interesting.

Spirito di Vino was not exactly what we were expecting. The lighting was very bright, the clientele was mainly British (or Irish) but that said the food was perfectly cooked. I had the cod Carpaccio as a starter, and then 1st course was a sea bass linguini pasta dish followed by slow roasted shoulder of pork server with an apple puree. Simple and tasty using excellent ingredients.

We enjoyed a lovely New Years Eve at Spirito di Vino. It is a lovely restaurant that we would not have tried w/out top table. The food was excellent and the staff welcoming and family run. They seemed to get a bit overwhelmed by the full restuarant so it was good that we started early. They have an extensive wine selection. The veal was the best we had in Rome (and we had a lot of veal). I would highly recommend the experience.

The restaurant was quite difficult to find but once you are in there the food and owner were amazing! Great description on the food and you could even look in his wine cellar! Would highly recommend this for a special night in Rome and the lamb is superb!

This was my second visit to Spirito di Vino. The ambience is very pleasant - brightly coloured smart interior and it makes a change from the traditional Roman trattoria. There was just a hint that waiters were going through a proven script compared with my first visit a year ago but service was prompt and efficient and food good.

I found out about Spirito Di Vino whilst looking for a restaurant to take my fiancee to for her birthday. We couldn't fault it. we were made very welcome. the father/owner then came over to explain each dish to us and give us a brief history of the restaurant. each dish was superbly cooked and very tasty. the wine was superb. and when i mentioned my fiancee's birthday, they brought out a candle and some free grappa. then they gave her a bottle of wine as a present! fantastic!!!!!
