About Nymphenburger Hof Restaurant

Munich’s Restaurant Nymphenburger Hof shares a name with a Baroque palace a few miles away - a magnificent example of living Bavarian history and a top tourist attraction. This relatively small and friendly restaurant is especially beautiful in summer, when the flower-filled private courtyard - separated from the road by a screen of trees – opens. Everyone gathers outside beneath the parasols. Like Nymphenburger Hof’s clean, elegant décor, the cuisine is cosmopolitan and international, inspired by what used to be known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Examples include Wiener schnitzel (veal scallop), and tafelspitz (a traditional ox-based dish and the favorite of Austrian Emperor Franz Josef). Restaurant Nymphenburger Hof’s well-stocked cellar similarly stands out for its top-notch Austrian wines, an achievement earned through years of developing a close relationship with Austria’s leadings vintners. Which partly explains the popularity of the monthly-changing gourmet menu with recommended wine pairings.
