About Quadri

Quadri restaurant in Venice – how romantic can one restaurant be? Candlelit views over Piazza San Marco from the windowside tables, a single red rose in a bud vase, silver-domed dishes revealed with a flourish, the Quadri orchestra below, the chimes of San Marco above, crystal chandeliers, rose-coloured fabric-lined walls, gilt mirrors all invoke sighs of pure pleasure. Quadri has bags of history – it was founded in 1775 as a Turkish khava (coffee) house by one Giorgio Quadri from Corfu. The coffee house remains among the porticos on the ground floor, while the grand first floor restaurant was created in 1830. Absolutely everyone has dined here, from Lord Byron to Sting. The seasonal Italian menu features dishes like marinated seabass in puff pastry with baby spinach, cherry tomatoes and mustard, and bucatini pasta with eggplant and provela cheese, duck breast in fruit sauce. House wines are recommended. A pair of interconnecting dining rooms make Quadri an impressive choice for private or corporate entertaining, too, with a host of menus to choose from.

We went to Quadri in Venice last night and everything was perfect. I booked the table and asked for a table next to the window as it was our first wedding anniversary. The restaurant was packed and there was our table right at the window! the service and food were both excellent and with a deal on the set menu we got value for money and lots of extras thrown in. it is expensive but everything is in Venice and you can certainly eat worse meals for less money.

What a memorable experience. St Marks was flooded so we had to take our shoes off and paddle to the restaurant. Dont let this put you off, it was so much fun. When we arrived at the restaurant we asked for towels to dry our feet. The staff were very obliging. The meal was incredible, the staff so attentive but discreet. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful. It was a birthday celebration and the orchestra played Happy Birthday. Was wonderful. For a special treat exceptional.

Although Quadri is a lovely place to eat the food is of a very high standard there are other places in Venice which would be of the same standard and less pricey. But well worth the views over St Marks Square
