About Bacchanalia

At Bacchanalia restaurant in Manchester’s peaceful Chapel Walks, there’s no actual drunken nudity or worshipping of pagan gods. But there is always a gathering of diners and drinkers enjoying the al fresco tables, the buzzing modern bar with its world-class mixologists, and the brilliant, sophisticated first floor dining room. With its open kitchen, sunlit or candlelit tables, and cool minimalism, Bacchanalia is choice for business, shopping break or pleasure. Freshness is key – everything on the Moden European inflected menu is made on site, with dishes like deconstructed moussaka and daily-changing stuffed pan-fried chicken with flavoured mash. Wines and service are known to be excellent and the beers are double-chilled so the second half is just and cool as the first half.

Signature dish

Herb-crusted lamb tack served on minted, creamed green veg and finished with red wine jus.

  • Rabbit and olive terrine bound in proscuitto ham, served with rustic loaf, £5.25
  • Pork wellington with wild mushroom sauce and roasted sweet potatoes, £13.95

on arrival at the bar we decided to have cocktails at the bar before our meal. We were rudely ignored for 10 minutes and no apologies. However, the restaurant waitress who was lovely, courteous and extremely friendly made up the for awful start. The meal was of excellent quality, good value for money and very tasty. The cocktail happy hour was a good bonus (2for1) and we had a good night in the end. The service mark id obviously for the waitress and not for the barmaid!!

Bacchanalia in Manchester is a nice little place we've not been to before. Lovely location and the staff were very friendly. The food was nice, although a little small on the portions. The only disappointment was the dessert. My wife and I had a lemon meringue Pie without any lemon in it, and a burnt meringue! We had to send this back and they refunded it ok. Apart from that I would recommend you going, just avoid the desserts!

Bacchanalia is a casual dining place with a bar downstairs. The food was fairly priced, generous and tasty. A good place to go for a decent meal.
