Tour d’y Voir, set on the first floor of Les Vieux Sablons gallery in Brussels’ aristocratic Grand Sablo, is an adventure in dining. This restaurant is the result of the passion of Pascal and Tania Anciaux who have transformed the space into a vaulted 14th century chapel-like space with a baroque-ly louche reception area. It’s quite magical. But the real adventure happens when you place yourself in their capable hands, choose from fish, meat or vegetarian and let the chef improvise and surprise you. There is also an a la carte option where you make the decisions, but how ordinary is that? Starters might include homemade foie gras terrine with onion marmalade and brioche toast, main course of filet of gold bream with fondue of tomatoes and basil, and dessert of crème brûlée with bourbon ice cream. It’s possible to dine at quite modest cost here, finish a three-course lunch in 45 minutes, and smoke a cigar.
