About Le Gavroche

toptable Dining Awards 2010 - Runner-up: Over £45, Celebrity Chef Restaurant and Romance.

Holder of two Michelin stars and, more importantly, winner of the Toptable Best Food award, Michel Roux Jr’s Le Gavroche is among London’s most well loved restaurants. An unimposing doorway in the heart of Mayfair leads in to a temple of gastronomy. Whet your palate with an aperitif in the cosy bar with its country house atmosphere before moving in to the classically designed main restaurant where crisp white linen meets heritage paint colours and tasteful artwork. There may be a dress code here but Le Gavroche is nonetheless unpretentious and comfortable – sink in to a comfortable chair and be spoilt for choice by some of the finest French food the UK has to offer and the pick of a 60,000 bottle wine cellar.

Signature dish

Roast saddle of rabbit with crispy potatoes and parmesan.

Sample dishes

  • Mousseline de homard au Champagne et caviar (lobster mousse with caviar and Champagne butter sauce)
  • Homard et pappardelles, velouté parfumé au Cognac et Parisienne de légumes (steamed lobster with pasta, light cream and brandy sauce)

Le Gavroche in London was fantastic and we also met Michell Rue who came around each of the tables. We had the tasting menu with wine and it was delicious. In October I belive they will be having a new trasting menu and so very much looking forward to that.

Wow, the food was stunning. We arrived quite early and were the first diners there, so it was a little quiet to start with. Every single course was gorgeous - flavours and presentation were amazing. They also do some stunning wines by the glass, which makes a refreshing change. Yes, it was very expensive - spent £230 inc service charge, which covered three courses for two people plus three glasses of wine in total - but it was worth it.

We visited Le Gavroche on a Monday lunchtime. The restaurant was very busy, a good atmosphere and excellent service. We were a large party and all opted for the set lunch with wine included. The food was excellent and we thought it was good value for money. The cheese trolley was the highlight of the lunch for some of our party. We would recommend the restaurant and will certainly be visiting again.
