Party & group booking

Set in the heart of stylish, arty St Germain on the Left Bank, Alcazar is a smart, trendsetting Conran outpost of modern good taste. Colours are bright and bold and artworks are very cool. There is a private mezzanine overlooking the main dining room with huge windows that seats up to 42 and it would be superb for business events, small product launches or private celebrations. The French contemporary cuisine includes starter of snails with sorrel sauce, main course of leg of duck with olive juice and broccoli puree, and pudding of shortbread with raspberries on vanilla cream.

About Alcazar

Sir Terence Conran's bright, buzzing, and wonderfully stylish eateries have now conquered Paris with Alcazar. Set in a 17th-century real tennis court, and once a notorious transvestite bar and nightclub, the space has been transformed with a twelve metre high glass roof, trendy decor and lighting and a changing series of photographic exhibits. The Mezzanine Bar is adored, not only for its heart-stopping drinks but also for the sounds its DJs mix. Food is French contemporary. Starters include wild duck terrine and fig chutney, mains include foie gras-stuffed farm chicken with pan sauteed mushrooms, and puddings include liquorice-flavoured raspberry vacherin.

Visited Alcazar on Saturday 14th August and had an enjoyable meal. The highlight was the Salmon starter and grilled entrecote steak. The only criticism was no childrens sized portions, despite a request which was acknowledged by the waitress. The restaurant had a warm jovial atmospere and I would recommend it without hesitation.

The 'Top Table' 2 for 1 menu was extremely limited. The food was ok - but only ok. And the millefeuille was the worst I have ever had - all pastry, barely any cream. But it was a cheap deal and you get what you pay for - this would have been tolerable if the service was any good. Our overpriced (but very good) bottle of Petit Chablis was not left on the table, so when we needed a top-up we had to ask our waitress - which was difficult as she neglected us all night. A disappointing evening.
