Party & group booking

We wish someone would invite us to a group meal here, because it would be a very special event indeed. The level of cooking is known to be among the very best in London with dishes invented by Vineet Bhatia based on his own interpretation of traditional Indian cooking to sublime effect. The private rooms are small and rightly so. Jaipur seats up to 14 and Udaipur, leading onto a private roof terrace, seats up to 6, and the two can be combined. Group menu dishes include starter of rasoi platter including Bhatia's famous tandoor salmon, main course of prawns in coconut and chilly masala and kashmiri lamb rogan josh, and pud of silky chocolate delice with Indian tea ice cream. Great service.

About Rasoi

Rasoi means 'kitchen' and, in this case, also means fabulous, award-winning, bravura cooking. Vineet Bhatia is the chef who won Zaika the first Michelin star ever for an Indian restaurant, now he has opened this intimate, upmarket, charming townhouse restaurant in Chelsea. Rooms are smart modern with splashes of colourful Indian saris and artwork. The 'evolved Indian' menu may include dishes like starter of assorted sea scallops which are spice-crusted, chilli, sesame and onion seed, main course of grilled spice marinated duck escalopes with hot tamarind chutney, sauteed garlic shiitake mushrooms and onion fritters, and pudding of poached pear, ginger, and yoghurt cheesecake with blueberries and fennel sorbet. Superb wines.

Signature dish

Tandoori black spice chicken breast.

Sample dishes

  • Scallop and prawn brochette, raw mango and black lentil khichdi, wasabi ice cream, tomato and curry leaf dressing
  • Oven-baked spiced cod (coconut and roasted cashew nut khichdi with tomato ‘kadhi’, purple potato chips, chenna chutney)
  • Trio of brûlée creams, roasted pistachio rose petal and passion fruit, served with fruit salsa

We had a fantastic lunch at Rasoi. Really delicious food which left us longing to return - we shared the starters of smoked spiced tandoori salmon and the duo of chicken (Malai chicken tikka and red peppar chicken tikka) which were to die for and continued with lamb Roganjosh and a prawn marsala - life got better and better! The restaurant itself had an amazing atmosphere - warm and cosy and decorated with strong colours. The staff were helpful, friendly and attentive making good recommendations

The is one of 5 Michelin starred Indian restaurants in London and in my opinion the best. The restaurant is in a town house off the kings road, so it is intimate and homely. The food is superb and worth the money. Staff are professional and attentive. Would definately go back!
