About Sardo

Word has spread like lightning about this Italian restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia just a few steps from Fitzroy Square. Sardo is one of the few restaurants in London that focuses on the cuisine of Sardinia, so you can expect consummately prepared authentic Sardinian specialties prepared by a Sardinian chef. It’s all served by smiling staff in a relaxed, welcoming setting, and at prices that will remind you of your childhood holidays -- well very nearly. Start with Sardo’s thin-sliced sun-dried fillet of tuna on a bed of fresh French beans and sun-dried tomatoes, followed by hard-wheat pasta in a tomato and aromatic sausage sauce. Main courses include grilled swordfish with rucola and tomato, and sweets feature the sebadas, a puff pastry filled with pecorino cheese and topped with honey. The international wine list is strong on characterful Sardinian wines, the perfect accompaniment to a fabulous meal at Sardo restaurant.

Sample dishes

  • Calamari ripieni (grilled baby squid filled with a mixture of calamari meat and aromatic herbs, topped with tomato sauce), £7.90
  • Ravioli allo Zafferano (freshly made pasta parcels filled with ricotta cheese, aubergines and hazelnuts in a tomato and basil sauce), £8.90
  • Torta di Limone, £4.50

Sardo in London lived up to the things that other people have said about it: it's a lovely dining space, the service is friendly and good, and the food was beautifully cooked and very tasty. There is not much on the menu that would be considered cheap but it was all lovely and the Sardinian lager was very nice and affordable.

Sardo's in London as always excels. The crab linguine has been on the menu for along time and I am sure there would be much protest if it was ever taken off the menu. It clearly is a staple. One of the most delicous pasta dishes I've ever had delicately spiced and quite rich so you don't need too much. Went wth colleages and they gave us he round table by the bar after requesting it. Which I would say is the best table in the place.
