About Dish Restaurant

Popular with local foodies since it opened in 2004, Dish is a friendly neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Saffron Walden. During the day, the bright and airy dining room is ideal for cosy catch-ups with friends and their legendary Express Lunch menu is perfect for diners in a hurry. In the evening, Dish is transformed into a relaxed candlelit space, well suited to after-work gatherings and dinner dates. Using locally sourced produce wherever possible, the chefs create simple, full-flavoured dishes like mustard and pepper-crusted steak with Dauphinoise potatoes; black bream with leek, pea and asparagus risotto; and crisp king prawn tempura. Why not pop in on Fridays for their legendary Steak and Grill evening, or the two course pre-cinema menu?

Another visit to Dish in Saffron Walden on a quiet Tuesday evening. Only 12 diners, but we noticed that every other restaurant in the town was completely empty! A nice friendly welcome, and even more importantly every plate collected by the waitress after each course was completely empty. Haloumi cheese wrapped in prosciutto was a particularly tasty starter. Good reliable food in sensible portions, as always.

Mad Monday- Very good food at a great price in a lovely relaxed informal atmosphere. A good evening definitely recommended
