About La Albahaca

Situated in the glorious Barrio de Santa Cruz, La Albahaca is elegant and historic. A restaurant with a past, La Albahaca’s building dates back to the 1920s, an era when architecture was grand and gorgeous. So expect original features, none of which have been tampered with to create the graceful setting of this dining room. An impressive central courtyard is surrounded by chic little vintage styled dining rooms in which small groups of people enjoy their food under the dim buzz of conversation. The menu, which has a classical French theme, is equally impressive and just as elegant – you’ll be reminded of the kind of dishes fairy tale royalty might enjoy.

La Albahaca was a great location, tucked in a small square in Santa Cruz. The decor in the restaurant was beautiful and traditional. The service was a bit slow, but the starters were tasty. The focus is clearly on the meat, which was nice and came with rich sauces. However, the vegetables could well have been frozen and were over-cooked. Although a good experience, I think the restaurant was a bit over-priced for the quality of the food.

La Albahaca, Seville is situated on a very pretty square, a little off the main beaten track (nice!) The interior comprises 3 small, intimate rooms (blue and green best; we were in the pink). The service was great, v. experienced older waiters - always fun. The food was good but not nearly as experimental or high quality as I expected. Gazpacho was good (well you'd hope so), fish okay but vegtables severely over-done. Shame. I would recommend the experience over the food.

Had a very nice meal here and enjoyed the atmoshere of sitting outside while the darkness descended. The fish soup for starters was delicious and the duck for mains was fine. I braved the bull's tail for my main and whilst the meat was lovely and well cooked, there was plenty of fat floating around so wouldn't recommend this dish. The desserts of lemon mousse was refreshing and overall would recommend to anyone wanting a good meal in Seville although was a bit on the pricey side on the whole.
