Yet another winner from the Ramsay stable, the York & Albany restaurant – set inside the luxe boutique hotel of the same name in London’s happening Camden – is part Regency-era sitting room, part 30s-style gentlemen's club. The elegant dining room enjoys views of Regent's Park and is awash with muted, minimalist colours and parquet floors, but the star of the show is celebrity chef-patron Angela Hartnett. The menu at the York & Albany is infused with her Italian heritage, and knock-out dishes include the roasted and confit red-legged partridge with Savoy cabbage, kohlrabi and date purée, and the baked Victoria plum tart with honey ice cream. Wine list highlights include the 2007 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and the 2006 Pouilly Vinzelles. It comes as no surprise that, with Hartnett at the helm and with this lovely location and super modern European menu, York & Albany has risen to the top of London’s restaurant scene.
