5th visit to Georgetown, still as good as the first time. Love the food, excellent service, entertaining piano man, plus the cherry on the cake, the toptable offer

Veeraswamy
London, W1B
MS 20/08/08
Excellent set lunch at Veeraswamy's. It's worthy of note that the £16.50 2-course lunch is a set menu, but it was excellent at that. the food was great. The crab soup was well judged and delicately spiced; the main course of chicken was very flavoursome. Good service throughout - excellent value.

Genuine French food, lovely (French) waiting staff and great atmosphere. Le St Julien is a real little gem in the city. Ideal for a business lunch and/or a relaxed evening meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Veeraswamy
London, W1B
MS 20/08/08
Had two tables for lunch at Veeraswamy's - one had the set lunch @ £16.50, the other the tasting menu @ £32. This review is for the latter. The menu was just right for lunch - it came in three courses: 2 starters, then 3 curries between 3 of us for the main course. Both starters were superb: excellent taste combinations and novel dishes. The main course was good but not as interesting or flavoursome as the starters. Service was excellent throughout.

Snows on the Green
London, W6
AS 20/08/08
Once again, Snows didn't disappoint us. Highly recommend the steak in this restaurant as it's simply superb. And with wines at 1991 prices all through August, you can't complain.

Notting Grill

My friends & I had a great evening at Notting Grill. It was midweek & the restaurant was quiet, but the service was great & so was the food. It was a very hot day & the restaurant was pleasantly cool but the toilets were stifling! We will definitely go back.

Casa Mia Grande
Leeds , LS7
anon 20/08/08
Casa mia Grande had the ambience of an Italian restaurant with a bit more about it than pizza and pasta. The staff were very attentive but we felt that sometimes they lingered just a little too long. The food was good but my high expectations were not quite reach. Particulary with my partners fish which the restaurant is well known for. We both felt that the main courses were a little bland. On my part the asparagus soup for starters and orange tart for dessert made up for this dissapointment.

Gilgamesh

The decor is Gilgamesh is second to none and the set menu offers good value for money, although the service was adequate but far from exceptional. The wine list was rather expsensive but overall a very good dining experience

Quaglino's

Good in parts. The mussels to start were excellent. We went for fish and chips for the main course. There was a large quantity, but the fish seemed a bit dried out. Dessert was tarte du jour and was excellent. So good, but not an unqualified success.

La Porte des Indes
London, W1H
Zach Skaife 20/08/08
We visited La Porte des Indes for our anniversary. The atmosphere was exactly what we'd hoped for - busy yet intimate, staff in traditional garms, attentive service and over-the-top decor. The food was also top notch (except the popadom sides) and we were impressed by the seafood dishes. Sadly, we had to ask 3 staff before geting the correct toptable menu and the dishes available on the offer were limited. Nevertheless, it was still a highly memorable and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

Tamarai
London, WC2B
CS 20/08/08
Tamarai was good fun and the food was very tasty, but the tasting menu would be poor value without the current offer and the wine reviewer from the Independent newspaper mus not get out much if he thinks this has the best list in London...

Patterson's
London, W1S
SG 20/08/08
Another elegant, delicious, high-quality meal at Patterson's. The fish of the day was seabass with lobster tail in a (sort of) spring vegetable froth. My brother's foie gras starter platter was beautiful and generous as well as tasty. He seemed to love the breads. Only drawback was the wait of almost an hour between courses; wouldn't have mattered except as a gluten-free diner I became pretty hungry and we had a drinks party to get to, meaning we had no time for two full desserts as per menu

Champor Champor at London Bridge was a real surprise find, tucked behind Guy's Hospital. Interesting decor, intimate ambience. Plenty of fresh and exciting flavours on the menu, the food was well-presented and tasty. Attentive and unobtrusive staff. An all-around pleasant experience, good value with toptable offer.

Buddha Bar
London, WC2R
KC 20/08/08
Average food, averge service at expensive prices. Lots of waiting staff milling around doing not alot and we had to pour our own wine. Nowhere near as good as the Paris branch in terms of the food, service or ambience - they were playing Dido and Amy Winehouse!
