    We say…

So much has been said about Soho’s Gay Hussar, which has long been a favourite haunt of politicos and writers, that you don’t really go here for the food but rather for the experience. Having said that, the Hungarian peasant dishes are simple but beautifully prepared and Gay Hussar can’t fail to charm even the pickiest diner.

Great eve in entertaining surroundings and charming staff. The food is alright perfectly edible standard central european grub but that's not what you're here for. Might be back if not in a hurry.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was our first visit to the Gay Hussar. We were in the room downstairs, which was full of caricatures of political figures and shelves of books. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was very good. It was a special evening and we will remember it for a long time.

The Gay Hussar is one of London's true eastern european gems with an amzing ambience! The staff was very attentive, and as in any good Hungarian restaurants, the portions were big and filling. Can recommend the fish terrine and the roast duck dishes. As we were 10 people we would have loved to sit in one of the upstairs private dining rooms. Unfortunately they were already booked. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a break from traditional English restaurant food.
