We say…

Just a stones throw from the seafront, the award-winning Terre a Terre is one of the most popular vegetarian restaurants in Brighton. It was first opened back in 1992 by chefs Amada Powley and Philip Taylor and has been pushing the boundaries of meat-free cooking ever since. Popular with local veggies and ladies-who-lunch, their menu is a world away from boring ‘rabbit food’ and continues to impress with its creative flavour combinations. The team take their inspiration from around the world so diners can enjoy dishes like butternut squash and feta ravioli; chilled soba noodles with smoked tofu; and channa chaat – a spiced poori layered with smashed potato and chickpeas. Their wines and spirits are all organic and the restaurant also caters for vegans and gluten-free foodies.

Signature dish

Crispy fried potato rosti topped with buttered spinach, sautéed and finished with cream, garlic, parsley and nutmeg, topped with a soft poached egg and melted cheese.

Sample dishes

  • Northern rocky rasam (Kerala spice pink lentil and tomato soup, finished with chilli sizzle,
  • Spaghetti spin and Ed Balls (Spaghetti strands coated with porcini mushroom truffle cream, served with fresh sage and brown onion lemon gremoulata and deep fried fat olives)
  • Darling’s little truffle plate (A collection of our salt caramel chocolate truffles and boozy rum truffles)

We booked the 3 course special at Terre a Terre in Brighton on a Thursday night. The food was great and really good value for money. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food. I would definitely recommend it and will visit again next time I am in Brighton.

Lovely meal-we had the tapas selection which was beautifully presented & you would never think it was veggie food-which is a compliment from a meat lover.

Great as usual. Ambience only rated 7 because spent the entire meal distracted by a couple who couldn't wait til they got home to start getting it on... thought that the restauarant staff could have had a discreet word...
