We say…

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Runner Up: Best Celebrity Chef’s Restaurant. Chef Claude Bosi originally opened Hibiscus in Ludlow, where he won his first Michelin star in 2001 and a second three years later. In 2007, the restaurant was relocated to Maddox Street where it has become one of London’s most celebrated dining destinations. Having trained under top French chefs like Alain Passard and Alain Ducasse, Claude’s cooking has an unmistakably Gallic flourish and a strong sense of seasonality. His menu features show-stopping dishes like foie gras parfait; roast black bream stuffed with girolles; and confit leg of Brittany rabbit. The dining room is an understated and elegant space, allowing the fine wine and flawless food to take centre stage. Suitable for business lunches and romantic dinners alike, Hibiscus offers a truly unforgettable experience.

Signature dish

Confit leg of Brittany rabbit with an English mustard crust, summer vegetables and wasabi.

Sample dishes

  • Ravioli of white onion & lime, broad bean & mint purée, caramelised Cévennes onion
  • Scottish lobster roasted in beurre noisette, romanesco purée & gooseberry, lobster panisse
  • Hibiscus ‘tarte au chocolat’, Indonesian basil ice cream

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Hibiscus: absolutely delicious food and tasters in a not-overbearing environment typical of many michelin-starred restaurants. Tasty choice on the lunch menu, despite it being the "cheap" option. Immediate location on Maddox Street not the smartest and it's easy to walk past the front door. Could do with a couple more toilets so don't need to queue.

I love Hibiscus. And the current deal on toptable removes any excuse not to indulge... We attended asa table of six, were offered a la carte (in a non-pushy way) as an option, but they happily delivered the well balanced and enjoyable 4 course dinner. The only real blot for some people in the past has been a clinically quiet ambience, but - most likely due to the deal on offer - the restaurant was full, buzzing and most welcoming. Still one of London's best chefs and places to eat.

We were going to have the offer which was 4 courses and a glass of champagne for £48.50 Upon seeing the very limited menu for this offer we decided to go A La Carte which was £70 per head. We have eaten at nearly all Michelin starred Restaurants in London and Hibiscus definitely follows the formula. Very good food, although I would say that the courses were rather small even by Michelin standards. I can highly recommend the scallops and chococate fondant, probably the best I've ever had.
