China Grill restaurant, set in the CBS television corporation’s midtown Manhattan headquarters, attracts the sort of hip, hot, high-flying crowd that other restaurants would kill for. The bar is always heaving with an after-work crew, which makes the buzz here more of a roar. And the tables generally attract groups of more than two, simply because of the oversized portions designed with sharing in mind. The backlit pillars, French bistro-style wicker chairs, concert-hall height ceilings and marble inscriptions all combine into a thrilling ensemble.
