Party & group booking

Popular as it is for business lunches and dinners, The Depot is an especially good choice for Christmas parties - hire the whole venue or part of it for a minimum spend. A definitive drinks list is mouthwatering in itself!, while a healthy variety of menus, from a la carte to children's, makes choosing your food a pleasure. There are two party menus: one for £22, the other £26, both three courses. The Christmas menu costs £23.50 and again consists of a starter, main and dessert. Fig and sweet port crème brulée with chocolate truffles sound good to you?

We say…

A long established neighbourhood brasserie, The Depot enjoys a just about perfect location near the centre of beautiful Barnes. Nestling in the Tideway Yard, a renovated Victorian cobbled courtyard, it forms part of an award-winning Victorian conversion with a secluded south-facing entrance patio - a deeply desirable fume-free alternative to the high street. Those prone to waves of nostalgia (and relaxation for that matter) will love its highly polished parquet flooring and worn out wood furniture. High ceilings and exposed brick arches link three main dining areas, while a conservatory runs the length of the room framing the magnificent views of the Thames. Best book the much-coveted patio or river view tables, where sunny lunches often lead the type of sunsets that make you glad to be alive. An essential part of the exquisite experience, of course, is the food. May we recommend sweet figs stuffed with Gorgonzola, wrapped with smoked pancetta to start, and bacon-wrapped monkfish, cannelini bean stew with sun-dried tomato ravioli as main course.

Sample dishes

  • Roast bone marrow with grilled sourdough, parsley, caper & shallot salad, £5.50
  • Slow roast pork belly with shiitake broth & steamed Chinese greens, £13.95
  • Strawberry & vanilla creme brulee with shortbread, £5.00

Lovely place for a relaxed dinner. Menu has something to suit most tastes and the 3 courses for £18 is good value. Waiter could have been a bit less aloof but then we were talking so much he might have decided to leave us be!

We went to the Depot for Sunday lunch and couldn't get in until 2.30pm because it was so busy. Lots of families - it was very crowded but we could see why it was so popular. The Sunday roast lunch was excellent and good value for money. The puddings were very good if a little too sweet for our taste and the service was very friendly and efficient. Altogether a very pleasant lunch.
