    We say…

If romance is in the cards, one of London's most romantic restaurants is Covent Garden's Clos Maggiore.  Echoing the stylish country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly-muted  décor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind.  Seasonally-inspired, classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. Sample braised shoulder of rabbit with sweet and sour black radish and wholegrain mustard mousseline, or a flavoursome roast blackleg chicken with foie gras, petits pois a la francaise and smoked bacon cream. Wine buffs adore the list – it’s won an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.

    Signature dish

Braised shoulder of Loire Valley rabbit with sweet and sour black radish, wholegrain mustard mousseline.

    Sample dishes

    • Rémoulade of Dorset crab with marjoram avocado & Caesar salad, £10.50
    • Steamed fillet of sea bass with basil, fricassée of burgundy snails & piedmont potato gnocchi, parsley jus, £18.50

Lovely atmosphere, extensive wine menu, fixed price Sunday menu really good value. Food was all luke warm, but tasty. Service was average in comparison to the surroundings & atmosphere. Had to ask for our menus after we had been seated for a few minutes, they forgot our drinks and tried to over charge us.

Clos Maggiore is an excellent venue for an enjoyable dinner if you want something a little more upmarket than the usual. Ambience good, food good as is the service. Will certainly be returning in the near future.

We went to Clos Maggiore for dinner last night after visiting Natural History Museum. I chose this one because it is the No1 rated restaurant on Toptable. My husband had 2 courses and half bottle of wine & I had 3 courses dinner, both £19.50 each. Very good value with fabulous food and service and cozy ambiance like this. High recommend it and dont be fooled by its humble appearance in the colorful Covent Garden.
