The toptable story....
During the late 1990's the internet was still in its infancy – slow and often unreliable. But the founders of toptable recognised the web held great potential for restaurants to attract customers. toptable was born in February 2000 as a marketing tool for the restaurant industry.
Just five hundred brave restaurateurs had signed up to this new concept at launch. They agreed to participate on the basis they would pay on results, £1 for every diner sent.
Today
toptable will seat 3 million diners in 2008 – that's the equivalent of 25 packed jumbo jets of diners seated every day in restaurants around the world.
Since its inception toptable has seated
5 million diners.
toptable has over 400,000 diner reviews – that's the population of Manchester ranting and raving about restaurants.
This figure grows at the rate of 1000 per day – that's 13 double decker bus loads of diners reviewing every day.
This year toptable will generate £90 million of value to the industry, and £200 million of revenue to the industry since February 2000.
